No elevated measured values for substance leakage in Schweizerhalle BL

The leak of a potentially toxic substance in Schweizerhalle near Pratteln BL did not result in any elevated readings outside the plant premises. The police continued to urge the population to close doors and windows on Saturday night.
The Basel-Landschaft cantonal police reported after 02:15 a.m. that it was not completely clear what substance was involved. The escape of the substance caused strong odor emissions in the region. Ventilation and air conditioning systems should also not be used.
Specialists from the fire department carried out measurements around the incident site from the outset, according to the press release. The leak occurred in the production building of a chemical company. According to the press release, they did not reveal "elevated levels at any time".
The emergency services are on site with a large contingent. At the time of the announcement, it was not possible to predict how long the operation would last.
