The temporary red Julier Tower on the Julier Pass in Graubünden is set to be dismantled in the fall. The Kulturstiftung Origen is planning a new, permanent tower in its place. The new cultural house, "Ospizio", will be 55 meters high and feature twelve rooms for guests to stay in, as well as a restaurant to feed them. There will also be a floating stage, similar to the one in the old tower, and a covered terrace for outdoor theatre. The new tower will cost 25 million francs, compared to the 2.5 million francs spent on the temporary tower. The red Julier Tower has become a symbol of international renown, hosting the heads of state of Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Liechtenstein and Switzerland in 2018, and being used for promotional purposes by Swiss companies. It has also been used for dance, theatre and singing performances by international stars. The dismantling of the tower will take place from the end of August to the end of October. The technology, heating modules, sanitary facilities, glass panels, furniture and fire doors will all be reused. The wood of the tower, which has been damaged by the harsh weather, will be burned. Despite some resistance to the dismantling of the tower, the owners of Origen have remained firm in their commitment to the agreement. This is seen as important for the credibility of future projects.nnnnnnnnnn
