Büne Huber from Patent Ochsner is awarded the Prix Suisse 2024. Initiative Schweiz awards him the prize for his achievements and merits as a musician, painter and artist.
Büne Huber "redefined the boundaries of music" as frontman of the band Patent Ochsner, Initiative Switzerland wrote in a press release on Wednesday. As a creative mind, as well as a songwriter, composer and painter, he has had a lasting influence on the Swiss music scene for years.
Patent Ochsner's musical output is diverse, ranging from rock and folk to experimental sounds. The dialect band also goes its own way in its use of instrumentation: it has also used mandolins, accordion or a brass band. Hymns such as "W. Nuss vo Bümpliz" or "Bälpmoos" are to their credit.
In 2020, Patent Ochsner was the first band in Switzerland to be honored with an MTV Unplugged. Guest musicians such as Sophie Hunger and Andreas Schaerer joined them on stage at the 2021 concert. Patent Ochsner has also already won seven Swiss Music Awards in various categories.
Now comes the Prix Suisse 2024, which will be presented to Bühne Huber on November 9 at a ceremony in the Kursaal in Bern. Federal Councillor Beat Jans will also be in attendance.
Intiaitive Switzerland is awarding the prize for the fourth time this year. It honors personalities from Switzerland who have made outstanding achievements - previously, for example, ski racer Marcel Odermatt and doctor and scientist Martine Clozel.
