Petra Gössi (FDP) Replaces Middle Council of States Othmar Reichmuth

Petra Gössi of the Swiss FDP (Free Democratic Party) has become the first female Ständerat (member of the Swiss Council of States) from Schwyz, after ousting Othmar Reichmuth (Mitte) from the seat. She achieved 33,342 votes, the highest of all candidates. Pirmin Schwander of the SVP (Swiss People's Party) defended the seat of the retiring SVP Ständerat Alex Kuprecht, with 30,112 votes. The absolute majority was 26,695 votes, with a 56.81% voter turnout. Othmar Reichmuth was not re-elected, receiving 27,699 votes. Elsbeth Anderegg Marty of the SP (Social Democratic Party) received 8,425 votes, and Dave Heinzer of the Green Party received 7,201 votes.
