Police arrest suspect after bomb alarm in Bellinzona TI

The Ticino cantonal police have arrested a suspect following a bomb scare on Friday morning. A suspicious package had previously been found at the cantonal social insurance center IAS.
The threatening package was reported at 9 a.m., the Ticino cantonal police said. The building was then evacuated and cordoned off.
Explosives specialists from the cantonal police examined the package. They determined that its contents were not dangerous, according to the statement. The building was therefore released again after 11 a.m.
According to the police, they were also able to identify and arrest a suspect who had sent the parcel. He is a 53-year-old Swiss national from the Maggia Valley.
The police did not provide any further details.
