Police officers arrest four men in Lugano after firing shots

Police officers arrested four suspected robbers in Lugano on Tuesday. Shots were fired in the process. According to the Ticino cantonal police and the city police, the quartet wanted to steal from a watch and jewelry store. No one was injured.
According to the information available so far, the alarm was raised at around midday after a bicycle police patrol from the city of Lugano spotted the suspected robbers in the store. Three men were then arrested; two inside the store and one outside in front of the store.
A fourth suspect tried to flee on foot, but was also apprehended in the vicinity of the cathedral. During the police operation, a city policeman used his service weapon twice and fired shots. The police did not initially provide any further details about the incident.
