Procedure for Fatal Accident on Lake Biel to be Discontinued

The Regional Prosecutor's Office of Berner Jura-Seeland has closed the investigation into the fatal accident on Lake Biel on July 8, 2022. The skipper of the course ship of the Bielersee Shipping Company was not accused of any wrongdoing. The Information Officer of the Bern General Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Wednesday in response to a request from the news agency Keystone-SDA a report from the news portal Ajour.ch. The Regional Prosecutor's Office of Berner Jura-Seeland stopped the investigation about a year after the accident. On July 8, 2022, one person died in a collision between a course ship and a sailing boat on Lake Biel. The accident occurred between Ligerz BE and St. Petersinsel. The 68-year-old man in the sailing boat fell into the water and died. The investigation has now been closed with no blame attributed to the skipper of the course ship.
