The State Prosecutor has opened a case against the suspect arrested by the Cantonal Police in connection with the bomb threat at the Zurich Supreme Court on Tuesday. He is strongly suspected of being involved in the bomb threat at the Supreme Court.

The State Prosecutor's Office has applied to the Compulsory Measures Court on Thursday for an order for the accused to be placed in pre-trial detention, the Zurich Cantonal Prosecutor's Office announced on Thursday.

The Zurich Cantonal Police have identified the sender of the bomb threat from Tuesday at the Supreme Court: It is a 44-year-old Swiss man. He was arrested on Wednesday. The reason why the man threatened to detonate a bomb in the Supreme Court building via email is still unclear. This is the subject of further investigations. No explosive device was found during the search of the building on Tuesday afternoon.

Court personnel had to leave their workplace after a threatening email was received by several media houses in Zurich. The 44-year-old Swiss man announced in the email that an explosive device would detonate in the court building in the afternoon. In the subject line he wrote "Allahu Akbar".
