Last year, more young people took part in the "Youth and Sport" courses and camps than in the last pre-pandemic year of 2019. The Confederation even recorded a record number of camps.

In total, more than 640,000 children and young people took part in at least one course or camp, the Federal Office of Sport (Baspo) announced on Tuesday. This means that the program is once again as successful as it was before the coronavirus pandemic. For the first time, the events in 2023 could be held again without restrictions in connection with Covid-19.

The record figure of 1.6 million camp days is reportedly due to the fact that sports clubs and other organizations will also be able to hold "Youth and Sport" camps from December 2022. Previously, this option was only open to youth organizations, municipalities, schools, cantons and national associations.
