Recruit dies in motorcycle accident on the A2 in Buochs NW

A Swiss Army recruit has died in a motorcycle accident on the A2 highway. According to a statement, he collided with the central crash barrier at the Buochs NW entrance in the northbound direction and crashed.
The rescue services were no longer able to resuscitate the recruit, the army wrote in a statement on Wednesday. He died at the scene of the accident. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The young member of the army was in his tenth week of recruit school, the statement continued. He was on a relocation exercise with his company from Monte Ceneri TI to Thun BE.
The military police, the Nidwalden cantonal police, ambulances and Rega were deployed. The military justice authorities have initiated an investigation, the army also announced. His relatives and comrades were looked after by care teams.
