River and lake levels rising again after overnight rain

The water levels of Swiss rivers and streams rose rapidly on Monday morning following overnight rainfall. According to the federal government, the levels of Lake Zurich and Lake Lucerne also rose again on Monday after falling the previous day.
The runoff volumes will continue to increase over the course of Monday, according to the federal government's natural hazard bulletin on Monday. The federal government expects the flood peaks to occur on Tuesday night. The situation is then expected to ease again thanks to the weather calming down.
At present, danger level 3, "considerable danger", applies to Lake Constance and the High Rhine. For Lake Lucerne and Lake Zurich as well as the Limmat, Reuss and Thur, the danger level is 2, "moderate danger".
According to current forecasts, Lake Constance is likely to remain at danger level 3. However, Untersee could temporarily reach danger level 4, "great danger".
