For the second time, the French-speaking Swiss association Ciné-Doc is organizing the national documentary film festival Let's Doc! From November 1 to 30, more than 90 films will be shown at over 130 locations throughout Switzerland.

Around one hundred locations were involved as partners in last year's pilot project. This year, "there is an increase of 30 percent", Gwennaël Bolomey, founder and director of Ciné-Doc, told the media on Wednesday. He also emphasized that the documentary film festival is taking place decentrally throughout Switzerland.

It involves 50 cinemas, 13 libraries, 19 socio-cultural centers, 13 film clubs, museums and churches as well as several partner festivals such as the Visions du Réel documentary film festival in Nyon. The partners were able to choose from the 30 films proposed or suggest films themselves.

The festival will open with "No Other Land" by Basel Adra, Yuval Abraham, Hamdan Ballal and Rachel Szor, a collective of four Palestinian-Israeli activists. Their film was awarded the prize for best documentary at the Berlinale. Last April, it received the Audience Award at Visions du Réel.

"No Other Land" will be shown in more than 20 cinemas. The premiere will take place on October 31 at the Cinémas du Grütli in Geneva and on November 3 at the Riff Raff cinema in Zurich as part of the Yesh! Film Festival. There will be an online discussion with the filmmakers during these two screenings.

Ciné-Doc is an association founded in 2016 to promote documentary film, particularly in French-speaking Switzerland. Last year, it launched the national project Let's Doc! The Swiss festival is inspired by the documentary film festival LETsDOK in Germany and the Mois du film documentaire in France.
