The air navigation service provider Skyguide temporarily closed the airspace in the Geneva area shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The reason was flooding in the air traffic control room.
The flooding caused by a heavy thunderstorm impaired the cooling of the data center, which posed a risk of overheating of the air traffic control systems, as Skyguide announced on Tuesday evening. As a result, neither take-offs nor landings can be carried out. Skyguide is working on a solution, according to the statement.
