St. Gallen City Council re-elected in first ballot

All members of the St. Gallen City Council were re-elected in the first round of voting on Sunday. Maria Pappa from the SP remains mayor. There were only opposing candidates for the city council, but not for the presidency.
Mayor Maria Pappa (SP) was re-elected with 12,556 votes. City councillors Peter Jans (SP) with 11,872 votes, Mathias Gabathuler (FDP) with 10,585 votes, Markus Buschor (non-party) with 9,200 votes and Sonja Lüthi (GLP) with 9,105 votes were also confirmed in the first round of voting.
Patrik Angehrn from the center wanted to win a seat. He received 7234 votes. Robin Eichmann from the Juso party received 3961 votes and the independent Cem Kirmizitoprak 2190 votes.
The absolute majority was 8971 votes. The turnout was 41.7 percent. Following the renewal elections, the St. Gallen City Council will continue to be made up of 2 SP, 1 GLP, 1 FDP and 1 non-party.
