Start of the vacation season leads to long traffic jams in front of the Gotthard

The start of the fall vacations in many cantons leads to a long traffic jam in front of the north portal of the Gotthard tunnel. Late on Saturday morning, vehicles were backed up for 10 kilometers between Erstfeld UR and Göschenen UR.
The time loss amounted to 1 hour and 40 minutes, as the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) announced on the X platform.
The school vacations began on Saturday in ten cantons such as Lucerne, Aargau and both Basel. In eight other cantons, the vacations will start next weekend. Traffic jams on the Gotthard can therefore be expected again.
