During the murder trial in Bern, people close to the victim described the young woman as "upbeat". She liked to travel. None of them thought suicide was likely.
The victim was like a sister to him, said one of the private plaintiffs in court on Monday. The woman had been a fighter, had "stepped on the gas", for example at work. She took good care of herself and others. The woman liked to travel, but her husband disliked this.
The victim's mother emphasized that she could not believe that the young woman had killed herself. She had met with her daughter shortly before the crime. The young woman had told her about her plans for the coming year. "She had a lot of plans", the mother emphasized. This included getting pregnant.
Most interviewees agreed that the couple had had a peaceful relationship and had not experienced any major problems - at least from the outside.
