According to a recent survey in Germany, the Social Democrats have continued to lose support.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz's party has reached 15% in a new survey conducted by the opinion research institute Forsa for the RTL/ntv "Trendbarometer", losing one point compared to the previous week. The newly founded left-wing BSW also lost ground and, according to the survey, would have to worry about entering the Bundestag with 4% (-1).

The CDU/CSU led by opposition leader Friedrich Merz remains the strongest force with a clear lead and remains unchanged at 33%. There was also no change in the figures for the Greens (11%) and the FDP (4%) compared to the previous week. The right-wing populist AfD gained one point to reach 18%, while the Left Party also improved by one point (4%).

Pistorius with good personal values

According to another Forsa survey, there is a clear preference among respondents on the unresolved "K question" in the SPD: at 66%, a clear majority is in favor of Defense Minister Boris Pistorius as the SPD candidate for chancellor. Only 18% are in favor of the Social Democrats running with Scholz in the early federal election on February 23.

According to the data, Pistorius is also ahead in the politician rankings.

Election polls are generally always fraught with uncertainty. Among other things, declining party loyalty and increasingly short-term election decisions make it difficult for opinion research institutes to weight the data collected. In principle, polls only reflect the opinion at the time of the survey and are not a forecast of the election outcome.
