Due to the uncertain situation in the Middle East, the Lufthansa Group and its subsidiary Swiss are once again extending the suspension of flights to various destinations in the Middle East.
All flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut will be suspended up to and including Monday (August 26), as Swiss announced on Monday. For Lufthansa, this also applies to the destinations Tehran, Amman and Erbil, as it writes in its own press release.
Until then, the Group's companies will also not use the airspace over Iraq, Iran and Israel. Previously, the flight ban was in place until and including Wednesday (August 21).
The background to this is the tensions between Israel and Iran, which give rise to fears of war in the region - far beyond the Gaza Strip. The flight ban applies to all of the Group's airlines and to cargo and passenger aircraft alike. In addition to Lufthansa and Swiss, the Lufthansa Group also includes Edelweiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings.
