The director and actress Lilo Baur has been awarded this year's Swiss Grand Prix Performing Arts / Hans Reinhart Ring. The award is endowed with 100,000 Swiss francs. The prize recognizes her as a versatile stage artist.

The award ceremony will take place together with the other Swiss prizes for the performing arts on October 31 at the Theater Casino Zug, as announced by the Federal Office of Culture (BAK) on Thursday. According to the BAK, Lilo Baur made her career primarily in Paris and London.

She currently works mainly as a theater and opera director at major theaters such as the Comédie-Française and the Opéra Comique in Paris. However, she also directs in Switzerland and is a guest lecturer. Nine further prizes go to other personalities or institutions. They are endowed with 40,000 francs each.

The BAK presents the most important award for the stage arts in collaboration with the Swiss Society for Theater Culture. The prizewinners are nominated by a nine-member jury.
