Swisscom has been awarded a contract by Swissmedic. The telecommunications group will provide IT services for the Agency for Therapeutic Products until 2039. The contract is worth a total of CHF 185 million, as detailed in a press release issued on Monday.
Swissmedic is switching from its previous service provider, the Federal Office of Information Technology (FOITT), to Swisscom. Swissmedic put its requirements for IT services out to public tender on the simap.ch platform and chose Swisscom from two offers, the Agency also announced.
Over the next 15 years, Swisscom will provide the infrastructure operation of Swissmedic's specialist applications, the operation of hardware and software, information security services and the necessary telecommunications services. In addition, there are further options, growth for the ongoing digitalization and the expected inflation.
Swissmedic will begin migrating the IT services currently provided by the FOITT to Swisscom from 2025, the statement continued.
