The Taxpayers' Association wants to launch a referendum against the funds approved in Zurich for the Eurovision Song Contest. This is a private event.
The taxpayers' association argued in a press release on Tuesday that it is hard to see why the taxpayers of Zurich should pay for this. The organization plans to officially adopt its referendum in Zurich on Wednesday evening.
Zurich's parliament approved a loan of 20 million francs to host the ESC. Whether Zurich wins the bid to host the music competition will only become clear at the end of August or in September. There are also threats of a referendum against the joint bid by Bern and Biel/Bienne.
