Ten-kilometer traffic jam in front of the Gotthard also on Whit Sunday

Patience is once again required for the journey south on Whit Sunday. Shortly after 10.30 a.m., the traffic jam in front of the Gotthard north portal in Göschenen UR had already grown to ten kilometers.
According to the Touring Club of Switzerland (TCS), the waiting time to drive through the 17-kilometre tunnel into Ticino was again more than an hour and a half, as announced on the X short message service. The traffic jam had already formed at 08:00 in the morning.
Drivers were advised to take the San Bernardino section of the A13 as an alternative route. Yesterday, Pentecost Saturday, travelers heading south had to wait up to three and a half hours in front of the Gotthard north portal.
