The Swiss Federal Council has proposed to strengthen corporate responsibility by introducing new regulations for companies with 250 or more employees. These companies will be required to report on their environmental, human rights and anti-corruption risks, as well as measures taken to address them. Currently, companies with 500 or more employees are required to report on these issues. The proposed regulations are a response to the 2020 rejected Corporate Responsibility Initiative. The Federal Council plans to submit a consultation draft for the tightening of the regulations by July 2024.
