The Swiss National Council has approved a revision of the Federal Law on the Licensing of Road Transport Companies, which will require road transport companies to obtain a license for delivery vans over two and a half tons. This is a change from the current requirement of a license for goods vehicles over three and a half tons. Exceptions will be made for delivery vans used for non-transport related activities such as the transport of goods for service services or spare parts, as well as for domestic goods transport. The revision is intended to make cross-border road transport more competitive and bring it into line with EU regulations. It will also ensure that only reliable, financially capable and technically competent companies are involved in road transport. In addition, an adjustment of the control of letterbox companies is intended to prevent companies from circumventing the Swiss cabotage ban by setting up such companies. The revision also aims to prevent dumping of social or technical standards.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
