The oldest members of the National Council represent the majority of the SP.

Five of the six oldest elected members of the Swiss National Council are Social Democrats: Bruno Storni (TI), Laurence Fehlmann-Rielle (GE), Martina Munz (SH), Brigitte Crottaz (VD) and Pierre-Alain Fridez (JU) are all 65 years old or older. However, the oldest National Council member comes from the bourgeois camp: the 76-year-old Genevan Charles Poncet (SVP) is the oldest, according to data from the Swiss National Council election on Sunday from the Federal Statistical Office. No party stands out among the youngest elected National Council members. Three of the elected members are younger than 30 years old: the 26-year-old Katja Riem (SVP/BE), the 29-year-old Andri Silberschmidt (ZH/FDP) and the same-aged Samira Marti (BL/SP). They are followed by Mike Egger (SVP/SG) at 31 years old and the 32-year-olds Franziska Ryser (Green/SG) and Benjamin Fischer (SVP/SG).

The Swiss National Council election on Sunday saw five of the six oldest elected members being Social Democrats, with the oldest member coming from the bourgeois camp. Three of the elected members are younger than 30 years old, with the youngest being 26-year-old Katja Riem (SVP/BE). The other two youngest members are 29-year-old Andri Silberschmidt (ZH/FDP) and 32-year-olds Franziska Ryser (Green/SG) and Benjamin Fischer (SVP/SG).
