The south wing of Zurich's main railway station has been reopened to the public on Monday after a five-year renovation. The sandstone building, built in 1871, is a protected monument.

The completion of the works was celebrated on Monday, as the SBB announced. The south wing of the main station includes, among other things, the passage from the station hall towards Bahnhofstrasse.

The iconic Zurich Central Station has recently undergone extensive renovation works. The roof and façade, as well as the building’s technical systems and interior spaces, have been restored in collaboration with the cantonal heritage preservation agency. The renovation works, which cost a total of around 175 million Swiss francs, were funded by SBB Immobilien.

By the end of the week, the first stores in the renovated premises will be open for business.
