British-French actress and singer Jane Birkin had a connection to Switzerland. She starred in the Swiss director Timo von Gunten's short film "La femme et le TGV", which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Short Film in 2017. The film tells the story of a woman who stands at the window of her house in the Neuchâtel Jura every day at 6.18 and 19.13 to wave to the locomotive driver of the passing high-speed train - until one evening she waits in vain. The short film was premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2016. In the same year, the festival honoured Birkin with a Leopard for her lifetime achievement - and a retrospective.
