Traffic controller hit and seriously injured in Lugano TI

A 60-year-old traffic controller was hit by a motorcycle in Lugano TI on Saturday and suffered life-threatening injuries. According to the police, the man had been directing traffic on behalf of a security company due to tree maintenance work on a road.

A 41-year-old scooter rider from Como (I) was traveling on Via Zurigo at around 8:40 a.m. when the accident occurred, according to the Ticino cantonal police. The cause was initially unclear.

The victim of the accident is an Italian national resident in the Lugano region. An ambulance took him to hospital.
