Truck on Furka car train catches fire

On Tuesday afternoon, a lorry caught fire on a car transport train from Oberwald VS to Realp UR. According to the press release, the train was still able to reach Realp. One person was injured.
According to the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway, operations on the route remained suspended on Tuesday for both car transport and passenger traffic until the end of the day.
The fire was extinguished in Realp. All passengers were evacuated there, the cantonal police of Uri wrote in a statement. One injured person was transported by the rescue service to Andermatt, from where he was transferred to a hospital outside the canton.
The amount of property damage could not yet be quantified on Tuesday evening. The cause of the fire was also unclear. The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB) was also deployed to clarify the cause of the accident.
