Two men, aged 49 and 79, have to answer to the Pfäffikon district court today, Tuesday. They are alleged to have insulted and defamed the former Zug cantonal councillor Jolanda Spiess-Hegglin online over a long period of time.

According to the indictment, the two Swiss nationals from the Zurich Oberland allegedly slandered and harassed Spiess-Hegglin via various channels. Among other things, the Zug native was called a "liar" and a "left-wing bitch in chief" in Facebook posts.

The public prosecutor recognized a concrete threat in a post in the Facebook group "We vote SVP". "It will go on until a madman goes crazy and...", it said. Because of this message, Spiess-Hegglin must have feared that the 49-year-old or a person commissioned by him would cause her physical harm.

The cantonal police finally issued a no-contact order against the pedicurist and tiler. The man was not allowed to contact Spiess-Hegglin on any channel for three months - according to the indictment, he ignored the order.

Picture montages with porn actresses

The 49-year-old and his 79-year-old comrade-in-arms also allegedly created a website specifically for their hatred of Spiess-Hegglin. According to the indictment, they published photo montages there in which they placed Spiess-Hegglin's face on the bodies of porn actresses. The website is now offline.

The public prosecutor is demanding a fine of 180 daily rates of 60 francs and a fine of 600 francs for the 49-year-old for multiple defamation, multiple slander, verbal abuse, pornography and other offenses.

The 79-year-old pensioner, for whom the list of charges is somewhat shorter, is to be punished with a fine of 90 daily rates of 60 francs, plus a fine of 300 francs. It is not yet clear when the Pfäffikon district court will hand down its verdict.

The background to the harassment is the unresolved incidents at the Zug Landammann celebration in 2014.
