With the participation of US Vice President Kamala Harris at the Ukraine peace conference on the Bürgenstock in Nidwalden, the wish of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj for the presence of US President Joe Biden has not been fulfilled. Biden takes part in the G7 summit in Italy.
This will take place immediately before the conference on the Bürgenstock. Selensky had invited Biden to extend his stay in Europe.
However, the 81-year-old Democrat decided to return to the USA. According to press reports, the president, who is currently campaigning, wants to attend a fundraising event in California together with stars such as Gerorge Clooney and Julia Roberts.
According to the White House on Monday, Kamala Harris intends to reaffirm the USA's support for Ukraine at the peace conference on June 15 and 16. She will be accompanied by Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
According to Selenskyj, more than one hundred countries want to take part in the conference on the mountain in the canton of Nidwalden. China canceled because it considers a conference without Russia as a warring party to be difficult.
