The canton of Valais wants to restore road access to the upper Val de Bagnes as quickly as possible after several mudslides. To this end, it is using the general police clause - an instrument for emergency and crisis situations. He argues that an ordinary procedure would take several months.
This was announced by the canton on Friday. The general police clause can be invoked if public order is threatened by a serious and unavoidable impairment, it writes.
In this specific case, it was "justified by the urgent need to restore the public roads" that provide access to the various localities affected.
Since the beginning of July, various debris flows have occurred in the Fregnoley stream, causing extensive damage in the valley. Since then, two cantonal roads are no longer passable, which is why the villages in the upper part of the valley no longer have road access.
