The Thurgau public prosecutor's office has demanded a prison sentence of 16 years for a 35-year-old man for multiple attempted murders. The waiter is accused of shooting two guests several times with a pistol outside a bar in Rickenbach TG on May 23, 2021 because he felt provoked.

According to the indictment, which is available to the Keystone-SDA news agency, the bar employee shot his victims at close range on the evening of Whit Sunday. When the two men fled, he followed them and pulled the trigger several more times. The victims survived despite gunshot wounds. However, one of them was in a potentially life-threatening condition.

After the shooting, the man fled abroad. He was arrested in Hungary in November 2021 on the basis of an international arrest warrant and transferred to Switzerland in December 2021.

According to the indictment, the Thurgau public prosecutor's office is now demanding a prison sentence of 16 years against the Serbian. He should then be expelled from the country for 15 years. The trial at the district court of Münchwilen TG is scheduled for three days in mid-December.

Kicked in front of the restaurant with a gun

As the public prosecutor explains in the indictment, tensions had arisen between the men days before the shooting. The two later victims would have considered a reprimand because of the mask requirement in force at the time to be arrogant and insulting.

In addition, they were turned away by the waiter on another evening because there was no more room for them due to the 4-person rule per table. They complained about him to their supervisor.

According to the indictment, the employee had felt insulted and attacked in "his honor, his pride, his personality and his authority as a waiter" and finally wanted to discuss the matter outside the restaurant after work on Whit Sunday. He took a pistol with him, with which he is said to have shot "unexpectedly and insidiously for the two victims".

"In cold blood", he disregarded the lives of the two "in an extraordinarily blatant manner" and "wanted to extinguish them in a particularly reprehensible manner or at least accepted this", the indictment continues.
