The conditionally withdrawn landscape initiative has a difficult time in the National Council. An indirect counter-proposal to the petition for a referendum was already adopted by the councils in the fall with the second part of the partial revision of the Spatial Planning Act.

The Council of States voted against the initiative in 2022; the Federal Council also rejects it. The National Council, on the other hand, has not yet made a decision. The majority of its Committee for the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy (Urek-N) is proposing rejection. The SVP, Center Party, FDP and GLP want a no to the initiative.

The initiators themselves are relying on the revised law and have therefore conditionally withdrawn their request. It could be taken out of the drawer if the law does not come into force. The SP and the Greens have called for a Yes to the initiative in the event that it does come to the ballot box.

Opponents, on the other hand, argued that a referendum against the new spatial planning law was not on the cards. Around thirty individual speakers wanted to speak on the initiative on Tuesday.
