Zurich Presents at the Olma Parade in Front of Around 15,000 People

The traditional parade of the guest canton of Zurich at the Olma attracted around 15,000 spectators to the old town of St. Gallen despite the rainy weather. Over 1400 Zurich citizens marched according to the Olma fairs to the fairground. Prominent guests from politics included the Zurich government president Mario Fehr (non-partisan), the St. Gallen government president Stefan Kölliker (SVP) and former federal councillor Christoph Blocher (SVP). Zurich was presented in a colourful and musical way with Zurich originals such as Globi and the Böögg from the Zurich Sechseläuten. Zurich guilds marched with elaborate designs and distributed flowers, bread, cervelats and mustard.
The first Saturday of the Swiss Fair for Agriculture and Nutrition in St. Gallen is dedicated to the guest canton, which presents itself on the fairground under the motto "Family Zurich's Garden". The Olma will last until October 22nd. In addition to numerous exhibitors, the fair offers various special exhibitions and animal programs. In the city centre, around 200 market stands are set up at the parallel St. Galler Herbstjahrmarkt.
