Zurich Zoo puts elephant cow Ceyla-Himali to sleep due to her age

Zurich Zoo euthanized the 49-year-old elephant cow Ceyla-Himali on Saturday morning. The animal had been suffering from health problems for some time.
Ceyla-Himali was no longer able to stand up on her own on Saturday morning, Zurich Zoo announced on Monday. Following a reassessment, it was decided to euthanize the aged elephant cow for animal welfare reasons.
