Survey: Swiss are satisfied with their health insurance

Vie, Jul 28th 2023

Switzerland is known for some of the best health care in the world, but it is not free or easy to find a good insurance plan. Still, the Swiss are happy.
Swiss people rate their health insurance at roughly an 8 out of 10 on their scale of satisfaction.

The Swiss are generally satisfied with their health insurance companies, according to a survey by the moneyland.ch comparison service. However, Swiss patients are not happy with their premiums, the survey found.

The 1,538 people surveyed gave their health insurance company an average of 7.9 out of ten points, which corresponds to a “good” rating, according to moneyland.ch. The insured were most satisfied with the friendliness of the employees, the clarity of the statements and the general satisfaction. In French-speaking Switzerland, satisfaction is slightly lower than in German-speaking Switzerland, which the comparison service attributes to the higher premiums there.

According to the researchers, there was most criticism for the price-performance ratio: the younger the respondents, the more dissatisfied they were with it. This is probably related to the fact that older people are more likely to receive health insurance benefits than younger people. According to the statement, this could lead to younger people having the impression that they are paying for something they do not need.

In the survey, the health insurance companies Swica (8.4 points), KPT (8.3 points) as well as Helsana and ÖKK (each 8.1 points) performed the best overall. Assura landed in last place with 6.9 points.
