Swiss Company Allegedly Circumvented Russia Sanctions

Switzerland’s Attorney General’s Office initiates its first case against a local company accused of skirting sanctions against Russia.

The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland has opened proceedings against a Swiss company for a breach of sanctions in relation to Russia. A spokeswoman for the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland confirmed this to Swiss Radio SRF.

It is the first case opened by the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland for violations of Russia sanctions, as reported by Radio SRF on Thursday.

A Swiss company is accused of circumventing trade sanctions against Russia via a subsidiary abroad. The Office of the Attorney General provided no information on how and to what extent the company is alleged to have violated the trade sanctions.

The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) had previously investigated this case.
