Switzerland faces a critical healthcare worker shortfall, with an urgent need for new entrants, spurring nationwide recruitment efforts.

The current workload is unprecedented, said Ribordy Vincent of the Swiss Society of Emergency and Rescue Medicine.
In view of the shortage of workers in the healthcare sector, Spitex Switzerland is launching a national campaign to recruit new nursing staff.
The organization announced on Monday that Spitex is primarily targeting people who want to reorient themselves professionally or re-enter the job market.
“In addition to promoting our image, we primarily want to appeal to potential employees,” Marianne Pfister, co-director of the umbrella organization of cantonal Spitex organizations, was quoted as saying in a press release on Monday.
Spitex stands for home help and care. Spitex, which employs over 40,000 people in more than 400 regional organizations, needs reinforcements in order to provide its services, which are increasingly in demand in Switzerland. This is mainly due to the ageing population.
