A 15-year-old Russian with suspected links to extremist and radicalized circles has been arrested in the canton of Vaud. The cantonal police forces of Vaud and Geneva worked together on the operation on Wednesday last week. The police did not want to specify what type of extremism was involved.
The police investigations coordinated by the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol), in particular in connection with the exchange on social networks, led to the identification of the underage Russian citizen residing in the canton of Vaud, as the Vaud authorities announced on Friday.
The juvenile was remanded in custody under the supervision of the President of the Juvenile Court. The investigation was entrusted to the security police of the canton of Vaud. They will continue in order to establish the exact extent of the Russian's criminal activity and possible links to other cases in Switzerland and abroad, according to a statement.
