Almost a third of office space in Switzerland is sustainable. This is the conclusion of an office market study by consultancy firm Jones Lang LaSalle.
As the survey shows, sustainable offices are particularly prevalent in the large markets of Geneva and Zurich (just under 48% and 33% respectively). In regions with scarce supply such as Bern and Zug, however, the proportion of sustainable offices is less than 15% in each case.
There is also a difference depending on the location: compared with the 30.8 percent of sustainable offices in Switzerland as a whole, the proportion in city centers is only 6.5 percent.
The study recorded the supply of office space as at the end of 2023. Office space in buildings that have been awarded one or more certifications or have high sustainability standards were classified as sustainable.
