A 35-year-old forestry worker was hit and seriously injured by a tree in Guarda GR in the Engadin on Tuesday. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

The worker had been working on a tree that had previously been felled, as the cantonal police reported on Wednesday. He was hit and seriously injured by another tree that fell over together with its roots.

Colleagues at work administered first aid to the unresponsive man and alerted the emergency services. A Rega crew provided emergency medical care and performed resuscitation. However, the seriously injured man died at the scene.
