A 49-year-old man has to answer for murder before the District Court of Lenzburg AG today, Thursday. He is alleged to have inflicted such serious injuries on his wife in Schafisheim AG in 2021 that she died in hospital a few days later.

The man had strangled his 44-year-old wife for several minutes on the night of March 12, 2021 in Schafisheim and prevented anyone from coming to her aid in the locked bedroom, as the public prosecutor's office announced at the end of the investigation. The woman died in intensive care in hospital a few days after the attack.

The public prosecutor's office classifies the killing as particularly ruthless and therefore as murder, according to the statement. The motives for the crime were unfounded jealousy, wounded pride and revenge. The execution of the crime - strangulation, failure to provide and failure to provide emergency assistance - was also particularly vile.

In early execution of sentence

The accused has been in custody or in early release since the crime. The public prosecutor's office requested a prison sentence of 16 years, accompanied by an outpatient therapeutic measure.

The Lenzburg District Court is hearing the case of particularly serious domestic violence on the premises of the Aargau cantonal police in Schafisheim. The verdict has been announced for Friday afternoon.
