56-year-old falls around 70 meters near Amden SG

A 56-year-old man went off a path near Amden SG and fell around 70 meters. According to the police, the man, who suffered undetermined injuries, was rescued by helicopter. He was flown to hospital.
Together with a companion, the 56-year-old wanted to replace ropes firmly anchored in the rock in the Rinquelle area, as the St. Gallen cantonal police wrote in a statement on Saturday. Suddenly, he lost his footing and fell in the rough terrain. His companion remained unharmed. Specialists from the cantonal police's alpine task force are investigating the cause of the accident.
