A 56-year-old woman fell several hundred meters and died during a hike on the Lienzer Spitz in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley on Thursday morning. According to the police, she was rescued by Rega. The cause of the accident is still unclear.

An accompanying person alerted the cantonal emergency call center, as the St. Gallen cantonal police wrote on Friday. Despite an immediate search flight by Rega, the emergency services were only able to determine that the Austrian woman, who lived in Vorarlberg, had died.
