62-year-old female driver dies in head-on collision in Valais

A traffic accident occurred on the Route de Poutafontâna in Grône VS on Monday morning. A 62-year-old female driver crossed into the oncoming lane and was killed in a head-on collision with an oncoming car.
The two occupants of the other vehicle were taken to Sion hospital by ambulance, the Valais cantonal police reported on Monday.
The driver involved in the accident had been driving her car between Brämis VS and Sierre VS before her vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons. The driver, a resident of central Valais, died of her injuries at the scene of the accident.
According to the police, the road was closed to all traffic for the duration of the operation. Traffic was diverted. The public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation in collaboration with the cantonal police.
