The 13th Global Climate Strike on Friday brought around 6500 people to the streets in eight cities in Switzerland, according to the organisers. The movement cited the "catastrophic summer" and the decreasing trust in the political ability to act as the reason for the mobilisation. Elections, referendums and demonstrations are important, but climate protection must now be taken into one's own hands, the Climate Strike said in the evening. Even a ten percent increase in the voting of a climate-friendly party cannot stop the climate crisis. Many people are increasingly considering how they can advocate for climate justice and an end to the fossil age outside of institutional politics. The political institutions are too weak against the power of the fossil lobby. A strong civil society and a societal transformation is needed. The participants of the demonstrations called for a rapid exit from fossil fuels and a system change to meet the goal of 1.5 degrees of global warming. The Climate Strike is also calling for participation in the national climate demonstration on 30 September in Bern.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
