71-year-old dies in accident with electric wheelchair

A 71-year-old man drove his electric wheelchair off the road in Capriasca TI on Monday afternoon and landed on an embankment. He was so seriously injured that the rescue services were only able to determine his death.
The exact cause of the accident was not clear on Tuesday, according to the Ticino cantonal police. The Swiss national, who lives in the Lugano area, was driving towards the hamlet of Odogno when the accident occurred. The wheelchair tipped over into the embankment as he left the road.
