82-year-old dies after accident at quarry pond

An 82-year-old man was rescued from the quarry pond in Münsingen BE on Thursday and died shortly afterwards. According to the Bern cantonal police, an accident is the main cause.
The 82-year-old Swiss man was initially pulled out of the water by third parties on Thursday morning. Rescue workers then drove him to hospital in a critical condition, the police wrote in a press release on Saturday morning. Despite the immediate rescue measures, the man, who lived in the canton of Bern, died shortly afterwards. The authorities are now investigating the circumstances of the accident.
