A sham debate looms for “Luzerner Zeitung”

For the "Luzerner Zeitung", the Federal Council's plan to overturn the ban on the construction of new nuclear power plants is both an opportunity and a danger. Although symbolic, it does little to change the reality. "No new nuclear power plant will be built that quickly in Switzerland - no energy company will take this risk without state funding and political guarantees."
However, it is precisely the question of financing that the Federal Council ignores in its counter-proposal. It only wants to demonstrate openness to technology and create new options for action. This could also be read as a means of exerting pressure. "If we don't make progress with renewable energies, nuclear energy will take center stage." As the nuclear issue is ideological, there is a risk of a sham debate "instead of driving forward the expansion of renewables".
